Maputo, 11 May (AIM) – The board created to prepare the new Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) financing programme for Mozambique envisages spending 8.6 million dollars in studies and other services by September of this year, according to a note on the Ministry of Economy and Finances website.
This work will focus on the development of the central province of Zambézia.
The agreement on the scope and objectives on the new Compact (name of the financing program) was signed on 30 January 30 between the Mozambican government and the MCC, envisaging overall financing of 500 million dollars.
The amount will be destined to three sectors: transport connectivity, climate change management and commercial agriculture.
Mozambique has already benefited from an earlier MCC financing programme for 507 million dollars, which ended in 2013.
