Maputo, 23 May (AIM) – The Mozambican Minister of the Interior, Arsénia Massingue, has argued that the three years interruption of the training of new recruits and their integration into the police force (PRM) will serve as an opportunity to assess the quality of the entire force, taking into account the need to purify its ranks.
According to the minister, who was speaking on Monday at a meeting of the Police Council, held in the Academy of Police Sciences (ACIPOL), jut outside Maputo, the interruption will allow the monitoring and continuous verification of misconduct in the police force.
“During these three years, beginning in 2024, the real purification of the force will take place”, Massingue promised. “After this, only those who knew how to work with responsibility and serenity, respecting the oath taken in front of the national flag, will remain in the police”.
The interruption, she added, will make it possible to identify those members of the force who are genuinely committed to the cause of the nation.
In future, the minister said, the police will only accept men and women determined to honour the mission focused on guaranteeing order and public security.
“But this does not mean that we must stop training regularly the human resources that we already have in the force, so that the PRM can acquire more abilities that are expected from a real police officer”, she explained.
