Maputo, 11 Nov (AIM) – Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi believes that Saudi Arabia is a strategic and important partner for Africa, when it comes to diversification of African economies.
According to Nyusi, who was speaking on Friday in Riyadh, during the first Saudi-Africa summit, with regard to the exploitation of natural resources, Saudi Arabia is one of the world’s examples in promoting sustainable development.
“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of the few countries where natural resources are not a curse, but are the driving force behind the development and well-being of its people. Africa can learn a lot from this reality”, Nyusi claimed.
The President believes that Saudi Arabia’s collaboration with African countries, especially in the areas of education, health and humanitarian assistance, may play a relevant role.
“We reiterate our gratitude for the humanitarian assistance that the King Salman Humanitarian Support and Assistance Center has provided to Mozambique at a time when we are facing the severe consequences of the natural disasters that strike cyclically”, he said.
“Let’s try to achieve peace by all means”, Nyusi declared adding that the summit “is also an opportunity to confront the scourge of terrorism and violent extremism that affects our countries and undermines peace and political stability”.
