Maputo, 14 Nov (AIM) – The Mozambican Police (PRM) have rescued nine victims of kidnappings out of the ten abductions that took place over the last ten months, according to Prime Minister Benvinda Levi.
According to Levi, who was speaking on Thursday at the country’s parliament, the Assembly of the Republic, answering requests for information from the deputies, the nine victims rescued from captivity have returned to their families.
“The rescues were possible thanks to the efforts and regional actions between the various institutions that guarantee public order, security and tranquility, as well as the collaboration of the communities”, she said.
The latest kidnapping occurred a month ago in central Maputo, and the victim was a 60-year-old Portuguese businessman who owned a car accessories store. He is still being held by the kidnappers-
Levi assured the deputies that the Police are continuing to work in coordination with national and international institutions, to ensure that all the cases are solved, including the arrest of kidnappers so that “they may be brought to justice.”
