Maputo, 14 Oct (AIM) – The bilateral cooperation between Mozambique and Germany, over the past 40 years, has reached more than 1.8 billion Euros (over two billion US dollars at the current exchange rate).
According to the German Ambassador to Mozambique, Ronald Münch, cited in a statement, the current value of projects under implementation amounts to approximately 850 million Euros and “German development aid has a great impact on Mozambicans.”
He said that German aid has contributed to “job creation, increased access to electricity, and enhanced vocational training.”
According to Münch, cooperation between Mozambique and Germany “has provided access to financial services for hundreds of thousands of people.”
Over the last week, Germany carried out several events aimed at celebrating the 40th anniversary of cooperation with Mozambique. “Regular government consultations between the two countries also took place”, he said.
Currently, German projects in the country cover areas such as good financial governance, migration and internal displacement, vocational training, private sector development, climate, as well as renewable energy.
Germany co-chairs the Development Cooperation Platform (DCP) and stands out as a strategic partner of Mozambique, ranking among the largest bilateral partners in development cooperation, humanitarian aid, and stability, the ambassador claimed.
During the annual German Unity Day celebrations, the German Embassy in Mozambique held a photo exhibition highlighting concrete results and personal success stories of the partnership between the two countries.
