Maputo, 12 Aug (AIM) – The US oil and gas company ExxonMobil has announced that the final investment decision (FID) on the Rovuma LNG project in Mozambique may be secured later this year.
ExxonMobil is leading the construction and operation of all future natural gas liquefaction and related facilities for the Area 4 deep water block off the Cabo Delgado coast, operated by Mozambique Rovuma Venture (MRV), a joint venture owned by ExxonMobil, the Italian energy company ENI, and CNPC of China.
The Rovuma LNG project – which is operated by MRV, a joint venture owned by ExxonMobil, the Italian energy company ENI, and CNPC of China – is expected to deliver approximately 150 billion dollars in revenues to Mozambican State over its 30-year operating life.
According to ExxonMobil’s chairperson for Upstream, Dan Amman, speaking after meeting Mozambican President Daniel Chapo on Tuesday, there had been “a lot of discussion about how we are going to move forward with the Rovuma project so that we can have a Final Investment Decision this year”.
