Maputo, 22 Mar (AIM) – The passage of severe tropical storm Filipo, which hit southern Mozambique last Tuesday and Wednesday, has damaged the computer system of the National Road Transport Institute (INATRO).
According to a statement issued by INATRO, as a result of the damage, the Institute is restricted in issuing and printing duplicate driving licenses, and in assigning number plates, as well as in collecting fines.
“As a result of the storm, part of the building of the INATRO was submerged, which had an impact on the computer data network infrastructure, as it affected the equipment”, reads the note.
The document adds that, in order to prevent any further damage, INATRO decided to interrupt the computer systems.
“Filipo hit the computer systems that support the services for issuing and printing duplicate driving licenses, assigning number plates, as well as for paying fines. The system is being re-established in stages”, the note says.
