Maputo, 4 Mar (AIM) – The French government has pledged to disburse 30 million meticais (469,000 dollars at the current exchange rate) in order to fund business projects for young people in the central Mozambican provinces of Zambézia and Sofala.
The amount – which will be channeled to Licungo University (UNILICUNGO), a public education institution based in Quelimane city, capital of Zambezia – will be used to create business incubations by providing scholarships to those students who are interested in developing business ideas.
According to UNILICUNGO Vice-Chancellor, Boaventura Aleixo, who was speaking on Monday at the opening ceremony of his institution’s academic year, those who are interested will apply for the vacancies and they will be selected through a public tender.
“This year, we will also introduce seven new courses. These are degrees in health and physical activity, sports management, economy and finance, livestock and rural extension, energetic sciences, environmental chemistry and financial accounting”, he said.
He added that “we will also introduce a doctorate in community development.”
