Maputo, 25 Apr (AIM) – Mozambique’s National Inspectorate of Economic Activities (INAE) has banned the sale of the “Super Vega”brand of cooking oil of because its production does not meet the quality control requirements laid down by the Ministry of Health.
An INAE statement declared that “Super Vega” cooking oil, which is produced in Nacala district, in the northern province of Nampula, must immediately be withdrawn from the market because it comes from an illegal economic unit which has no authorisation to operate or to use the ‘Made in Mozambique’ seal.
“It is being illegally produced in the district of Nacala. But it is being sold throughout the country, especially in the northern and central provinces. Its nutritional content was not approved by the relevant entity and it does not follow other legally imposed requirements, without which the industry should not operate”, reads the INAE document.
INAE instructed its delegations to proceed with the immediate seizure of the cooking oil in question, as well as to submit samples of it to the laboratory for quality control purposes.
