aputo, 12 Fev (AIM) – The Administrative Tribunal (AT), the body responsible for checking the legality of Mozambican public expenditure, has confirmed the existence of an investigation against some of its magistrates allegedly involved in corruption cases to facilitate and falsify public procurement visas.
According to AT statement, the investigation, which is being carried out by the country’s Central Office for the Fight against Corruption (GCCC), is taking place in Maputo, “confirming images and information on social media, reporting an investigation underway.”
“The investigation falls within the scope of a criminal case being handled by the GCCC, following a complaint filed by the Administrative Tribunal against unspecified public servants, on suspicion of illegally collecting fees and falsifying visas in public procurement processes”, reads the document.
According to the document, this procedure is part of measures to combat corruption, promote integrity and professional ethics, “and the AT is open to collaborating in the investigations.”
“The TACM will continue to collaborate with the competent institutions to clarify the facts and hold the offenders accountable, as applicable”, adds the note.
