Presidente da ACLLN, Daniel Chapo
Maputo, 26 May (AIM) – Mozambican President Daniel Chapo, speaking in his capacity as President of the ruling Frelimo Party, has encouraged the National Committee of the Association of Veterans of the National Liberation Struggle (ACLLN) to remain vigilant against terrorism, violence, and disinformation.
According to Chapo, speaking at ACLLN fourth Ordinary Session, in southern Matola city, veterans of the liberation struggle must continue playing a central role in patriotic education for youth and in consolidating national stability.
“We must return to our provinces imbued with the spirit of unity, cohesion, and loyalty to the party. We also reiterate our call for all Mozambicans to redouble efforts to increase production and productivity, especially food production at the family level”, he said.
According to Chapo, the “one family, one vegetable garden” campaign should become a permanent practice for Mozambican households, particularly in urban and peri-urban areas.
Chapo warned of the dangers of disinformation, “rumors, and violent protests”, describing them as threats to national stability.
The session, which brought together 168 members along with historical leaders and guests, also addressed the security situation in the Northern Province of Cabo Delgado.
Participants, for their part, called for improved social conditions for veterans of the national liberation struggle, highlighting medical and pharmaceutical assistance, priority access to public services, pensions, and scholarships for veterans’ descendants.
Delegates also discussed preserving historical sites linked to the liberation struggle, including former bases and training centers, which they said are vital for the patriotic education of younger generations.
The session elected Xavier Nelson Agostinho Toniquiel as president of ACLLN’s National Fiscal Council and Lúcia Mustafa as a member of the same body.
