Maputo, 9 Jun (AIM) – A group of American investors have expressed their interest in strengthening investment in Mozambique’s strategic sectors, especially energy, tourism, infrastructure, and international financing.
The investors expressed their interest during various meetings held with Mozambican President Daniel Chapo, during his first day of working-visit the USA.
The President participated in the Fragilities Forum 2026, an event that brings together political leaders, businesspeople, and representatives of international financial institutions. He also met Linda Thomas-Greenfield, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations; Garrick Gish, executive director of U.S. International Finance Partners (IFP); and Paul Sullivan, president of International Business at ACROW Bridge.
Thomas-Greenfield expressed her willingness to support attracting investors to Mozambique, highlighting the opportunities presented by the President. “And I hope that, through this meeting and future meetings with the Mozambican government, we can find opportunities to bring investors to the country”, she said.
For his part, Garrick Gish said that his company intends to travel to Mozambique in the coming weeks to assess concrete investment opportunities. “We hope to be able to visit the country personally in the coming weeks to analyze various opportunities in different domestic markets”, he said.
The institution intends to explore partnerships with North American and European financial entities to support future tourism ventures in Mozambique.
In the infrastructure sector, ACROW Bridge pledged to proceed with the construction of 112 bridges in the country, a project developed in partnership with the company Conduril.
This initiative is under a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Mozambican government at the end of February this year and is considered one of the largest interventions to improve road connectivity in the country.
“The President spoke about the deep commitment to progress. I think words are important, but actions are much more so. The parties reviewed the project’s progress and reiterated the objective of completing the delivery of the 112 bridges by the end of 2026”, Sullivan said.
Chapo is the only President invited to co-chair the opening session of the meeting, alongside the President of the World Bank Group, Ajay Banga. During the forum, Daniel Chapo is also expected to share Mozambique’s experience in managing challenges related to fragility, security, and conflict, central themes of this edition.
