Mozambique’s exports to Poland reached 100 million dollars

Maputo, 10 Jun (AIM) – The Confederation of Business Associations (CTA) has announced that Mozambique’s exports to Poland reached 100 million dollars in 2024.

According to Álvaro Massingue, CTA chairperson, speaking on Monday, in Maputo, at Mozambique – Poland Business Forum, trade between the two countries remains far below potential but “the figure shows extraordinary potential for growth despite trade volumes remaining relatively modest.”
“The numbers confirm we can do much more”, he said.

Mozambique’s exports to Poland are dominated by coal, cashew nuts, tobacco and other primary products.
“We do not want only to increase trade between our countries. We want to create companies, factories, jobs and innovation”, Massingue said, cited by the independent newsheet “Integrity”.

According to the chairperson, Mozambique can serve as Poland’s gateway to African markets due to its location on the Indian Ocean coast and integration into regional logistics corridors.

“Investing in Mozambique provides access to a domestic market of more than 34 million people, plus 400 million consumers in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and about 1.4 billion under the African Continental Free Trade Area. The CTA seeks partnerships focused on productive investment and local industrialization, not just increased trade”, he said.

Massingue also identified opportunities for cooperation in energy, oil and gas, industrial engineering, rail infrastructure, urban mobility, waste management, agro-industry, health and food processing.

He added that CTA is available to support Polish investors in identifying local partners and facilitating institutional contacts for new business projects in Mozambique.

“Poland’s industrial and technological experience combined with Mozambique’s natural resources and strategic location can create a truly transformative economic partnership for both countries”, he said.
