Maputo, 20 May (AIM) – Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi on Thursday invited Mozambicans resident in Zimbabwe to participate in the construction of Mozambique, urging them never to lose their patriotic spirit.
Speaking at a meeting with the Mozambican community resident in Zimbabwe, during his three day state visit, Nyusi urged the Mozambicans to remain united and to represent their counry with dignity and responsibility.
He asked all Mozambicans to register with the Mozambican embassy in Harare, and to form associations “to improve the activities you undertake, and to find rapidly the market for your products”.
They should “continue to be the best representatives and ambassadors of Mozambique, in the provinces and neighbourhoods where you live”.
At the meeting, Nyusi listened to the concerns of the Mozambicans, notably about job opportunities in Mozambique once they have finished their academic training.
In reply he stressed that the government hopes to boost the entrepreneurial spirit. “Don’t wait for someone to come and say ‘I’ve got a job for you here”, Nyusi said. “Bank on self-employment, which is what is happening now, since many youths are receiving self-employment kits through the State Secretariat of Youth and Employment”.
