Maputo, 4 Mar (AIM) – The Algerian government has pledged to disburse about 30 million US dollars for the construction of a multi-purpose pavilion in Mozambique.
The announcement was made by Mozambican President, Filipe Nyusi, speaking to reporters on Sunday on the balance of his four-day working visit to Algeria, where he also took part in the 7th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Forum of Natural Gas Exporting Countries.
“When we raised our concerns about the construction of the multi-purpose arena, the Algerian government, through its President, immediately agreed and said that he would donate 30 million dollars for the construction of a sports arena”, he said.
“It’s like a multi-purpose pavilion, a sports arena, and all of our sportspeople, all of us who live sport, feel that the country doesn’t have that. They can support us and they have a lot of experience, including in the field of construction”, he added.
The President also said that, on the occasion, Algeria expressed its willingness to host training programmes for Mozambican teams.
“The president personally expressed his interest in hosting training programmes for teams from various sports in this country”, he said.
