Maputo, 15 Apr (AIM) – Islamist terrorists murdered at least four people on Thursday, in Bilibiza administrative post, Quissanga district, in the northern Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado, according to Monday’s issue of the independent newssheet “Carta de Moçambique.”
According to local sources, cited by the paper, the victims were beheaded. Their corpses were found by the population, in a field where traditional alcoholic drinks are usually made.
“The beheading was carried out by terrorists who, before celebrating the end of Ramadan in Cagembe, went to the village of Namaluco. The victims were killed when they were making ‘nipa’ (a traditional alcoholic drink made from sugar cane)”, a source said.
Another source said that “and then the terrorists went to Cagembe. We left Namaluco because of fear. There were five people in the fields. One escaped but was injured and the others died on the spot.”
According to the paper, the terrorists also went to the Quifuque and Tambuzi islands, in the district of Mocímboa da Praia, where they looted goods, especially dried fish. On the same day, they celebrated Eid-Ul-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, in Cagembe, in Quissanga district.
Sources claim that there was no intervention by the Mozambican Defence and Security Forces (FDS) or Rwandan troops on those islands. They believe that the boat in which the terrorists were being transported headed south of Mocímboa da Praia, probably to the Messalo River.
