Maputo, 16 Apr (AIM) – The Mozambican and Chinese governments have agreed to focus on cooperation in agriculture, electricity, education and transport.
The commitment was made on Monday, in Maputo, during an audience that the Mozambican Prime Minister, Adriano Maleiane, granted to the deputy Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China, Li Ming Xiang.
The parties also agreed to continue to increase the involvement of the business sector in both countries, within the scope of the “Belt and Road Initiative” and the Sino-African and Macau Forums, among other cooperation platforms.
According to a statement from Maleiane’s office, the visit by the Chinese Deputy Minister is part of the efforts to deepen relations of friendship, solidarity and co-operation between the two countries.
“During the meeting, the stage of bilateral cooperation was reviewed and the parties reaffirmed their willingness and interest in increasingly strengthening the strategic partnership focused on the political, economic and social spheres for the benefit of both peoples”, reads the statement.
The document also says that the Chinese leader reiterated his country’s commitment to continue providing multifaceted support to Mozambique, especially to face global challenges within the framework of the strategic partnership established in 2016 by the respective heads of state, Filipe Nyusi and Xi Jinping.
