Maputo, 16 April (AIM) – The Higher Council of the Attorney-General’s Office (CSMMP) has dismissed and expelled a group of eight law officers and assistant law officers from the provincial attorney’s offices of the northern province of Nampula, and the central provinces of Manica, Zambézia and Sofala.
According to a statement from the CSMMP, the expulsion is due to the use of their functions for their own benefit to the detriment of others, by requesting and receiving money in order to facilitate the release of imprisoned defendants and the closure of a case under investigation.
The decision was taken at a CSMMP plenary session, held on 3-5 April, which also decided to dismiss five officers with the categories of assistant law clerk and district court clerk from the staff of the provincial attorney’s offices of Zambézia, Manica and Sofala and the Maputo Provincial Office for the Fight against Corruption, reads the document
