Maputo, 18 Apr (AIM) – Three lifeless bodies have been found in Napala village, Macomia district, in the northern Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado, according to the independent newsheet “Carta de Moçambique.”
The bodies were found after the Mozambican Defense and Security Forces (FDS) launched an offensive a week ago against Islamist terrorist groups in the Mucojo administrative post.
According to the paper, citing local sources, the bodies were buried and have not been identified or claimed.
The sources said that the victims were civilians who were travelling to Mucojo.
“There are three people shot dead in Napala, but we suspect that the perpetrators are military because there is a position nearby. Despite the ban imposed by the authorities on anyone travelling to Mucojo, it seems that these victims were on their way there”, the source said.
According to local residents, in addition to the three fatalities, it is suspected that there are more bodies in the bush, because people come and go from Mucojo every day, noting that the insistence on going to that region is due to survival issues.
