Seoul, 5 Jun (AIM) – Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi believes that the private and business sectors are decisive for the country’s development since they are responsible for boosting the economy.
The President made this claim on Tuesday, in Seoul, at the opening session of the Korea-Africa Summit, a two-day event taking place under the motto: “Future We Build Together, Economic Growth, Sustainability and Solidarity.”
The event, which was co-chaired by the South Korean President, Yoon Suk Yeol, and his Mauritanian counterpart and current chairperson of the African Union, Mohamed Ould Ghazouani, was attended by African heads of state and government and representatives of various international organizations.
According to Nyusi, Mozambique, in the summit, addressed various sectors, namely: agriculture, industry, manufacturing, mining, energy, tourism, the service sector such as logistics, banking, insurance, digital technologies and information and communication.
“This is because Mozambique is one of the African countries with significant economic potential and abundant resources, such as arable land, a favorable climate for food crops, mineral and marine resources, natural gas and renewable energies”, he said.
Nyusi noted that the message he wants to leave the summit with is the need to promote investments and mutually beneficial partnerships in which everyone wins.
“In the specific case of Korea, it has been part of Mozambique’s group of strategic partner countries in accelerating sustainable economic and social development since 2013. For this reason, once again, we invite Korean entrepreneurs and others from our continent to embrace business initiatives and investments in the areas that Mozambique offers”, he said.
Nyusi also said he expects the ties between Mozambique and South Korea to translate into economic partnerships in favor of the well-being and sustainable development of “our peoples and countries. The future is in our hands and it is our duty to build it responsibly and with solidarity.”
“Let’s always do this with future generations and our planet in mind. Let’s act now, without damaging the planet or marginalizing the most vulnerable”, he said.
