Maputo, 3 Jul (AIM) – Islamist terrorists murdered a man on Saturday in the Pundanhar administrative post, in Palma district, in the northern Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado.
According to Wednesday’s issue of the independent newsheet “Carta de Moçambique”, the same group of terrorists attacked, on Sunday, a vehicle travelling from Mocímboa da Praia to the town of Palma, despite frequent patrols by Mozambican and Rwandan forces in the region.
According to the paper’s sources, the terrorists were seen on Saturday in the fields of Pundanhar, where they captured the victim and then beheaded him. The body was then abandoned and later found.
“Apart from that incident on Saturday, life is going on as normal, but these terrorists are still circulating here”, added another source.
Despite Sunday’s attack, traffic on the road between Mocímboa da Praia and Palma is running normally, “Carta de Mocambique” reported. However, the paper noted an increase in patrols by the Rwandan Defence Forces along the road.
The terrorists had not made incursions into the Palma district for many months, due to the strong presence of the Rwandan and Mozambican Defence and Security Forces.
