Maputo, 29 Jul (AIM) – The Mozambican Police (PRM) claim to have prevented the illegal entry into the country of 172 foreign citizens of various nationalities who were trying to cross the borders in seven districts of the central province of Tete.
According to Feliciano da Camara, the Tete provincial police spokesperson, cited by Radio Mozambique, “of these border violators, 98 were Malawians, 36 Zambians and 38 Zambians. They were caught in the districts that share borders with Mozambique. The police authorities in Tete province are stepping up their efforts to monitor and block the corridors used by the network of border violators”, he said.
These individuals were trying to enter the country through the borders located in the districts of Angónia, Tsangano, Moatize, Changara, Mágoè, Zumbo and Marávia.
“The corporation will continue to step up its vigilance in the districts on the border with the landlocked countries, in order to guarantee public order, security and tranquility”, Da Camara said.
Last April, The Mozambican National Immigration Service (SENAMI) prevented the illegal entry of 87 foreign citizens into the country. The individuals in question lacked visas and other documents that could show how they would support themselves during their stay in Mozambique, and they had no proof of accommodation.
