
Maputo, 20 Mar (AIM) – The Global Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM), which is led by the United Nations, has announced that it needs 3.5 million dollars in order to support the victims of tropical cyclone Jude which hit northern Mozambique, especially Nampula province, two weeks ago.
According to a CCCM statement, the necessary funding is aimed at assisting over 136,000 people who were affected by Jude by implementing “life-saving interventions and supporting the recovery process in the affected provinces.”
The note explains that the main activities include establishing and equipping community structures, carrying out rubble removal operations to restore access to some roads and strengthening coordination mechanisms at district and provincial level.
According to the latest data revealed by the government, Jude killed at least 16 people and affected 385,000 others.
