According to a report on the local Rádio Watana, broadcasting from the nearby city of Nacala-Port, the thieves, who are still at large, were using firearms and blunt instruments.
“The robbery was reported to the authorities, but they were unable to intervene, allegedly due to a lack of ammunition”, the radio said.
According to the radio, the criminals also targeted several families in the village of Mueria, who had their homes raided and their possessions, including money, taken from them.
The raid culminated in the wounding of several people, some of whom were admitted to the local health center.
