
Maputo, 13 May (AIM) – The ambassador of Russia to Mozambique, Alexander Surikov, was found dead in his official residence, in Maputo, on Saturday night and his body was taken to the morgue of Maputo Central Hospital (HCM), the largest health unit in the country.
According to the Mozambican Police (PRM), the Russian authorities did not authorize any examination of the body. The causes of the ambassador’s sudden death, are thus unknown.
According to instructions from Russia, which reached the Police technical team through the consul of the Russian Federation, Yuri Doroshenkov, who was present at the morgue together with the embassy’s security officer, “he was instructed not to carry out any examination of the body, not even an autopsy”, the PRM said.
“However, the technical team took photographs of the deceased’s body in the morgue drawer”, the PRM added.
The Kremlin had appointed Suirikov Russian Ambassador to Mozambique In July 2017.
