Maputo, 19 Aug (AIM) – Thieves last Friday night stole computer equipment belonging to the Electoral Administration Technical Secretariat (STAE), in Inhassoro district, in the southern Mozambican province of Inhambane.
César Silva, the STAE Provincial Director in Inhambane, cited by the independent daily “O País”, believes that the stolen material has nothing to do with the presidential, parliamentary and provincial elections scheduled for 9 October.
“They took two computers, two printers and two cables. This material is only administrative and has nothing to do with the elections”, he claimed.
According to Silva, the authorities are working in order to recover the stolen equipment, taking into account that the official election campaign period begins on 24 August.
