Maputo, 18 Oct (AIM) – The health authorities have decided to re-open the health center in Palma town, in the northern Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado.
Islamist terrorists destroyed the health centre, during their attack on Palma in 2021. But according to Dikson Baulane, director of the centre, all basic services have now been restored, since security conditions in the region are guaranteed.
“Right now, all the services in the health unit are functioning. We are assisting patients with chronic diseases, pregnant women and women in post-partum situations. The laboratory and the pharmacy are also functioning, including the ophthalmology sector, as well as the maternity ward”, he said, cited by Radio Mozambique.
However, he added, the X-ray service has not been restored yet.
When the town of Palma was attacked by terrorists in April 2021, the French multinational TotalEnergies declared force majeure to suspend all activities on its liquefied natural gas (LNG) project, which is budgeted at 20 billion dollars.
