Maputo, 11 Mar (AIM) – Four minors kidnapped by Islamist terrorists in Mocímboa da Praia district, in the northern Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado, have now been released, according to Tuesday’s issue of the independent newsheet “Carta de Moçambique.”
These minors had been kidnapped on 4 March when the terrorists attacked Chibau community, looted food and killed one person. The minors in question are now living with their families in the community.
According to sources cited by the paper, during the trek from the village of Chibau towards the south, two of the six children originally kidnapped managed to escape, and the rest, one of whom was a girl, remained in the terrorists’ custody until around 13.00 the following day.
“The girl said that after arriving at a certain point, near the Quinhevo river, the terrorists decided to release her and told her not to leave the other three children until they got home.”, a source said.
The sources report that the terrorists gave one of the four children a phone and a briefcase stolen from one of the houses, and recommended that she return it to the owners.
However, on the same day, in addition to Chibau, terrorists also attacked the neighboring village of Ntotwe.
