Maputo, 13 Aug (AIM) – A group of Islamist terrorists on Monday invaded Nacuta village, Metuge district, in the northern Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado, where they looted food supplies and burned down houses.
According to local sources, cited by the independent newsheet “Carta de Moçambique”, the terrorists launched the attack at midnight. However, there are no reports of fatalities or injuries.
“It was around midnight. They didn’t shoot, they were just seen and the population fled. As a result, the attackers looted food supplies from at least three shops and then vandalized and set fire to the facilities, increasing the damage”, a source said.
During the incursion, some people were captured and taken hostage by the terrorists, but were released shortly afterwards.
“Some people who were unable to flee were captured and forced to carry the stolen goods, but were later released”, another source said.
