Maputo, 29 May (AIM) – The Mozambican Association Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (APME) calls for measures aimed at protecting the interests of national companies in order to safeguard the country’s interests towards economic development.
According to APME chairperson, Pedro Silva, who was speaking on Thursday, in Maputo, after being received in an audience granted by Mozambican President Daniel Chapo, the country must create conditions for a business environment more conducive to enterprise growth.
Silva also explained that the meeting with the President was crucial to discuss the challenges faced by national enterprises and the role of the private sector in boosting the country’s economy.
“We came to seek the President’s advice so that we may better defend the interests of our companies. There is no doubt that Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) are a driving force behind economic development”, he said.
According to Silva, the President urged SMEs to be more active and involved in the national business community, so that they can improve their business environment.
“This is something that gives us great satisfaction, presenting us with various challenges that we embrace. APME will remain committed to defending the interests of SMEs, despite the obstacles that still constrain the sector, namely access to finance, markets and opportunities for expansion”, he said.
“SMEs remain determined to contribute to economic growth, job creation and the promotion of sustainable and inclusive development.
