Maputo, 31 May (AIM) – Patients of Chigubo Health Facility, in the southern Mozambican province of Gaza, accuse the local health authorities of supplying expired medicine.
According to sources, cited by the independent paper “O País”, the violation against the users’ rights has been taking place for four months.
Reacting to the accusation, the administrator of Chigubo district, Almeida Guelume, said that the authorities became aware of the situation via social media, but actions are underway to assess the issue.
“In accordance with the principles governing the functioning of the public administration, we are conducting an internal investigation to ascertain the veracity of these facts and, if it is concluded that there is any culpability on the part of our colleagues, we will take the appropriate administrative measures”, he said.
However, Gaza Provincial Health Directorate rejected the accusations, claiming that the “denunciation is unfounded, there is no evidence.”
