Maputo, 24 Mar (AIM) – Mozambican President Daniel Chapo on Monday held a phone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as part of strengthening bilateral cooperation and friendly relations between the two countries.
During the dialogue, the heads of state exchanged views on opportunities for bilateral cooperation in strategic areas, particularly agriculture, energy, trade, and technical and vocational training.
“We expressed our willingness to explore concrete mechanisms to deepen collaboration in these sectors”, reads a statement issued after the talks.
The conversation also addressed the international situation, with both statesmen sharing concerns about the challenges to global peace and security, and their impacts on the economies of developing countries.
“We reiterated the importance of dialogue, diplomacy, and respect for international law as fundamental pillars for the peaceful resolution of conflicts”, said Zelenskyy, cited in the document.
He also reaffirmed Ukraine’s interest in strengthening ties with Mozambique, while Chapo highlighted the country’s openness to deepening bilateral relations “for the mutual benefit of both peoples.”
At the end of the meeting, both presidents agreed to maintain regular contact and promote initiatives that contribute to strengthening cooperation between Mozambique and Ukraine.
