Maputo, 27 Aug (AIM) – The authorities are investigating the case of a Mozambican student of medicine, named Amara Shakirah Marques Aliz, who was found dead after allegedly falling, last Saturday, from the fourth floor of a flat in Colinas do Cruzeiro, in Odivelas, on the outskirts of Lisbon.
The Portuguese Judiciary Police (PJ) believes that the 22 year-old student might have been murdered.
According to information obtained by AIM, the young woman was dating a Nigerian national.
The Mozambican Ambassador to Portugal, Stela Pinto Zeca, cited by Rádio Moçambique, said that the authorities have already contacted the victim’s family in Maputo and the southern Portuguese city of Setubal.
“We visited her family and expressed our condolences. We put ourselves at their disposal so that, together, we could follow up all the investigations and necessary documentation. The family has also appointed two lawyers to follow the course of the investigations”, Pinto Zeca said.
According to reports from residents, the victim went to the window to scream for help. She was then heard falling “and she couldn’t survive her injuries. Neighbors heard a violent bang.”
