Maputo, 2 Jul (AIM) – Mega Group, a Portuguese company operating in Mozambican marketing since 1998, on Wednesday inaugurated in Maputo city a cash and carry commercial space budgeted at 60 million meticais (939.100 Us dollars at the current exchange rate).
According to Mega Group director, João Seara, speaking during the inauguration, the project which combines wholesale and retail sales with a strong presence of national products, will create 29 jobs.
“The establishment features around three thousand product references distributed across various sections. The commitment to national products seeks to contribute to the valorization of Mozambican production and reduce the impacts of import difficulties for certain goods”, he said.
According to the director, the new space was designed to respond both to customers who purchase in large quantities and to consumers who want to acquire products individually.
“The cash and carry model provides differentiated conditions for case-purchases, while also maintaining standard supermarket operations. Among the most prominent areas are the frozen products section and the wine selection, which the company considers one of the main segments of the new unit”, he said.
Seara added that regarding prices, the company conducted market studies with the objective of offering competitive rates, “with this investment, the Mega Group expands its commercial network in Mozambique and reinforces its presence in the food distribution segment.”
